Phoebe Nadeau

Phoebe Nadeau, who earned her MS Applied in December 2025, dives into the world of persistent pollutants and pesticide safety with a healthy dose of curiosity. Her dissertation explored per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)—those stubborn chemicals lurking in everyday products and, in most Americans’ bloodstreams. She found that PFAS exposure isn’t one-size-fits-all—race, geography, and even what’s on your dinner plate (especially if you caught it yourself) make a difference. Phoebe didn’t stop there: At PNASH, she surveyed agricultural workers nationwide about pesticide spraying, from classic sprayers to cutting-edge tech. Her research revealed that while new safety tools are promising, there’s a real need for better training so workers can use them confidently. Phoebe’s work is about keeping people healthy.
